As a part of the project, and as to guide the first step for this long term of work, our group suggested to make a logo.
At this stage, there were no information given to us about the music, the culture, the countries etc to put it in the world map.
But we couldn't just kill the time, so by making the logo, we thought that it would guide the other groups, and that it would look more of a professional.
In addition, just by the logo, the people can remember our project.
The group divided into two teams, and one of the group started off with the logo. (HyeLin&SoYeon)
Firstly, we gathered some ideas of how to make a logo, and google searched about creative, interactive, and eye-pleasing logo.
During lots of research, we started to get an idea of how the logo should look like, and that the logo should emphasize the fact that
our project is about the "Mix of music around the world."
This is the first logo that we made.
This logo has the meaning of "G", standing for "Global" - the meaning of music around the world.
And obviously, the music note, symboling for music.
This logo was rather simple, but it was catchy, and was really easy to draw-copy.
After making this first logo, our group went around to other groups to ask about the logo, and some improvements were suggested,
Which we added when we maked the second logo for the project.
The second logo was made by HyeLin&SoHee.
The difference with this logo is that the logo actually has words, and pictures.
They were firstly making a text-logo, and tried out different types of features and other special effects.
As they were doing this, they found out that the world W, when it is up-side down like a shade, it looks like M.
They got the two words and created the word "World Mixxx". The colors are also chosen carefully, in order to make the letters stand more like a shadow.
This is the second logo that we made, and can be seen on the wiki page.
2. The World Map, Counteries, And their music
The most important job for the design ministry was this project.
This is what we had in mind, and the plan, before making, and progressing with photoshop.
We would have a big world map, and the countries would be tagged. The tagged country would have its own flag, with 3 characteristics of the traditional music next to it.
And the first step to this project was looking for a BIG HUGE WORLD MAP.
This was because we wanted to print this page out, and hang it somewhere - where people would look at it a lot more, than out tabelt screens.
When we found the world map, we also got the information from the Enthnomusicology ministry that they have started writing about the 3 characteristicis for each country.
During/Waiting for them to get finished, our group collected the flags that individuals have brought, and copied them onto the photoshop.
But at this time, our group faced a problem that all of us can't work on one computer, with one thing at a time.
What we did was to divide the map into 4 parts. (Since there were 4 of us. However, later, Asia and Oceania collaborated and became 3 pieces).
Each of us got the piece of map, and since we were in charge of the countries on the part of that map, we each asked the people to send us their country flags, 3 characteristics etc.
One thing to be careful was to matching up all of the font types, sizes, flag sizes, the usage type of lines etc.
We all had to keep this the same, because later, we thought that these three maps would be matched to one big single map.
The photoshop process took longer than we expected, and the members learned from each other the photoshop skills.
There also were some problems during this, and sometimes it took one whole lesson to get the problem fixed.
This is the final product of our group. The map is in three parts because a problem occured at the last minute..... but then it still looks cool and shows the work of all of us.
